Fahrenheit 451 Part 3

Finally! Finally we are at the last part of the story. It is no doubt that this is the climax of the story. After all the raising action, Boom! Everything meets a breaking point! I was very surprise when the fire man went to Montag's house. I was even more surprise when I found out it was Mildred who had set off the alarm(dump woman!). Well, I was in SHOCK when I got to the part where Montag killed Beatty. I didn't quite get the description at the first time, but as I understand, it's like a hit on the mind! Such big conflict was never expected.
The third part of the story,in my opinion, is the most dramatic part. Severe changes happened one after the other, making the reading rushing to get to the end. I have to say that Ray Bradbury is by far one of my most favorable writer. His writing is so talented and descriptive!

Fahrenheit 451 Part 2

Ok....it was pretty obvious that this blog post was suppose to be done last week instead of this week, but anyways, that's ignore the fact. :P So, this week, humm....no, last week, I finished reading the second part of Fahrenheit 451 and the test. Comparing to the previous one, this one was pretty okey, but why in the hell will one multiple choice have choices up to G?! (no offense Anyways, it didn't gave us a hard time.
As I read through this part, things start getting more and more interesting. Comparing to the first part, this part is like a appetizer, making us looking forward while the main course is being prepared. Ray Bradbury still continuously uses a lot of literary devices and figurative languages. Maybe some parts are a bit foggy at the first time we read, but you'll be surprised  then you finally figure it out. Times go like flying as I read the book, it definitely got the power to get one addicted to it!
The part where Biddy was stating all the quotes and what Montag thinks attracted me the most. The way he speaks showed full wisdom and a standard that can't be challenge. Looking forward to the later parts of the story:)

Fahrenheit 451 Part 1

I briefly read through the first part of out new reader-Fahrenheit 451. Didn't quite get it at the first time I read it, many parts contain quite some thinking. Somehow I was caught by the words and mood as I read through the pages. A lot of figurative language and neat details were added, the usage of words catches readers' sight easily. I kept flipping back and force between pages I didn't really get or feel like reading again- and to be honest, I'm not really an efficient reader- so yes, the section took me quite a while to finish.
Although this part of the story seems to stop a rising point, I believe Ray Bradbury must have added some foreshadows for the later parts of the story-make me expecting to read more:)
A good book, in my definition, is something that catches our mind at first sight and make you want to read it from daybreak to sunset. And Ray Bradbury make it:)

My Favorite author+ Recommending a book:)

Although I love reading, and had spend a whole lot of time doing it, I had to shyly admit that the english books I read wasn't broad enough to let me figure out which is my most likable author. However, there are still plenty of novels we once read and the authors that wrote then really impressed me-The Outsider, I believe-stands out among all of them.
231804.jpg  "The Outsiders", written by S.E. Hinton in the 1960s, a pretty old book but was very well-writtened and is a classic piece. It is a dramatic and enduring piece that has the power to affect us and stay with us forever. I believe that this story will continue to be cherish and pass down to the future generations although it had already been created for over forty years. The book marks deep in my mind because it expressed a idea of how young adults seek to   prove themselves and the mental pressure they faced. The first time I read this book was when I was still in elementary, that time of course I read the chinese version. I didn't quite remember how I feel that time, but after two-three years, we got the english version as an agenda in english class. I didn't immediately made a connection within the two books, but after a few pages, the memories of how the book impressed me started to gurgled out. Reading this book while adolescent really gives you a different feeling. What happened in the book have no chance to happen in our life, but at this age, we feel like we want to challenge something- no matter it's our parents, teachers or the system. Reading the book makes this feeling release a bit, cause we had the feeling as if we were one of them in the book. This is not a hard book to read, the usage of words may be some kind of old-school, but the author expressed her feelings in the book really well. I've read it for many times, it's a good book to read while I feel pissed by life, you see things from more points of view and tend to cherish life more.
This is the only book I read that was written by S.E. Hinton, but she became one of my most favored author after reading this book. I really admired her and highly recommend the book.

Reflective post-North and South

Recently,we had came back from our school trip. The school trip was great but what comes afterwards...didn't seem to be that great! In fact, the week was miserable!!! We have all sorts of home works,  essays and projects waiting for us and the mid-term is very soon. I usually spent my time home doodling or simply doing nothing, but now I have to manage my time every day to finish my assignments on time.we were forced to read the abbreviated version of "North and South", to be honest, I seriously don't think that this is an interesting book to read. I tried to force myself to finish the book but always ends up reading one page or two then falling asleep or getting distract by different things due to the boredom of the book. I mean, the themes that were expressed in the book such as the expectations of parents, love and the difference between the Northern and Southern part of England that time may be interesting to discuss, but the word choice sorta ruined the beauty of the words and the feeling that were been expressed. Throughout the whole book, the scene that impressed me the most is the ending of the story where Mr. Thornton told Margeret that he had visited the place she had grown up even if he knew the fact that he is not going to win her heart. This is the most touching and romantic part in the whole book!! Mr. Thornton ends up being such a nice and sweet guy, so of course like all the other love stories, the two lived happily ever after. The last part make up for all the other boring parts and make the book quite worth to read. :)

reflective post-Singapore and Malaysia

The twelve days trip have been a great time! No homework, no projects, no blaming, only playing chatting, sleeping late and being crazy! We actually experienced a lot in both Singapore and Malaysia. The walks in the National park of Malaysia were exhausted but the views were fascinating. The mosquito bites were severe and cause serious allergy, but over all the tour was quite worth it. Our tour guy Farid was such a funny guy! The only chinese he can speak are cute boys and young ladies. He taught us all he knew about the rain forest, it was interesting and differs from sitting in the classroom and study all day long, a  more lively experience. I also met a 17 year-old Japanese girl, she was from a student exchange program and she had been staying in Malay for seven month year! She was a really active friend, always friendly and acts energetic, the two days of experiencing the rain forest will not be as fun without her. :)

King Lear-reflecive post

Finally! Finally did we finish reading the "three plays of Shakespeare"!! Personally, i don't think the story of King Lear is a very persuasive story. How can people believe in others and some letters that came from no where so easily? But the whole play in a way also showed the different personalities one can have. Some may be greedy and cruel, but some still remain kind and loving no matter what happened. Although the play ends up being a tragedy where most of the characters died, the details and conflicts in the story make it a pretty impressive play. We also finished the test based on Shakespeare's plays on Friday. Wasn't able to finish the first question(first as in #) in time:( .It was a bit challenging, but it's always good to have some kind a challenge(not toooooooo much) in a while, right??:)
